MEET THE COACHES!
Catalyst Program Director & Club Founder: Paul Holocher
A former Major League Soccer payer with the San Jose Clash and Chicago Fire and current Head Coach for Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Paul was an All-American and Captain for the NCAA National Champions, Santa Clara University. Paul was recently named to the SCU Athletic Hall of Fame and named the 2003 NSCAA West Region Coach of the Year at UC Santa Cruz. In February 2006 Paul was named the Head Coach for the Cal Poly Mustangs, and is looking forward to working to bring Mustang Soccer to National Prominence as he did with UC Santa Cruz. Paul's passion and commitment to developing young soccer players was the force behind the founding of the Catalyst Soccer Club. Paul is now bring that commitment and passion to the young players of San Luis Obispo. |

Catalyst Program Director, Santa Cruz & Monterey County: David Frank
Catalyst welcomes it's newest edition to the director's role, David Frank. Dave graduated from UC Santa Cruz in 2006 with a degree in Business and Economics, where he was a member of the highly successful Men's Soccer Program. As a player, Dave was a three year starting central midfielder, and served and team captain in his senior year. In 2004 Dave helped to lead the Slug to an appearance in the NCAA Final Four and a National Runners Up finish. In 2006 Dave captained the Slugs to a 21-2 record and an appearance in the NCAA tournament's round of 16. In addition to his successful college career, Dave has stared for the Semi-Professional San Jose Frogs, and spent several months playing with Arminia Bieiefeld of the German Bundesliga. Dave is currently an Assistant Coach for the UC Santa Cruz Men's Soccer Team, as well as a Head Coach for the Santa Cruz County Breakers, and the Harbor High School girls varsity team. Dave is excited to begin his expanded role in Catalyst and will be looking to build on his five years of experience as a Catalyst Staff Coach. |

Staff Coach: Dan Chamberlain
Dan brings a wealth of experience and passion to Catalyst. Having coached in the program since 2000, Dan is one of the original Catalyst Staff Coaches. Dan graduated from UC Santa Cruz in 2003, with a degree in Earth Sciences and Education where he was a member of the highly successful Men's Soccer Team. As a player, Dan was a four year starting goalkeeper, and severed as team captain in his final two seasons. In his senior season, he lead the Slugs to their first ever Western Regional Championship, and was named to the NSCAA All-Region team. After college Dan played Semi-Professionally with the Salinas Valley Samba and has been very active in coaching throughout Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties. Currently the Head Coach for the UC Santa Cruz Men's Soccer Program, Dan is looking forward to continue to lead the Slugs toward their first National Championship! |

Catalyst South Bay Program Director: Ricardo Espinosa
Catalyst Soccer is excited to welcome Ricardo Espinosa to the Catalyst family. Ricardo joins Catalyst after an extensive soccer career both as a player and a coach. Ricardo began his soccer career in Lima, Peru where he was born. From Peru his family moved to the United States, were he attend and played soccer at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. After college Ricardo played professionally for the Monterey Jaguars from 1995-96, and the San Diego Sockers in 1996. From 1997 - 2002 he was invloved at both the youth and college level coaching as a coach for UC Santa Cruz Men's Soccer, Gilroy High School and various youth programs throughout Gilroy and Morgan Hill. Ricardo also runs Net Fitness Gym in Gilroy. |
